About Nerja
The Balcon de EuropaNerja is best known as the pearl of the Costa del Sol and is situated 80km east of Malaga.

Unlike many other resorts on the west of Malaga, Nerja has avoided high rise development and still retains the genuine Spanish character of the old town.

The 17th Century El Salvador ChurchNerja is not just a summer resort - its unique charm is all year round, claiming the best climate in Europe. The Sierra Nevada mountains, only 40 minutes away, boast the longest ski season in Europe, making it possible to sunbathe in the morning and ski in the afternoon.

The Alpujarras Mountains provide a spectacular back drop to the town, and offer magnificent countryside for walking and horseriding.

The centre of Nerja is located at the historic “Balcon de Europa” - the Balcony of Europe - that was built in the late 15th Century on the site of a 9th century castle. The Balcon is now a viewing point that looks out over the Mediterranean Sea and a popular place for locals and tourists to visit.

Next to the Balcon is the 17th Century El Salvador Church, built in baroque-mudejar style. In the old quarter of town small shops offer local crafts and produce for sale, including sweet white wine, honey and tropical fruit for sale.
